Benson 22nd at New Hampshire

#10 Valvoline Pontiac Driver Johnny Benson said he slipped and slid all over
the track Friday on his qualifying run at New Hampshire International Speedway.  But it wasn't a bad run - good for 22nd starting spot.

"I didn't think that was very good at all, but it seems the track slowed down
for a lot of people over practice," Benson said. "It was your typical New
Hampshire qualifying run. We slipped and slid all over the place. But we got
that over with and now we can concentrate on Sunday."

Benson was 16th in Friday practice.  The worst part of Friday's qualifying for Benson was the draw that saw him go fifth of the 47 cars.

While the track was slower went Benson qualified it wasn't true for the rest of
the field.  In the shadows of late afternoon, the track cooled and drivers were able to go faster later in the session.  "There isn't a lot  you can do about that," Benson said. "We will to work to get ready for the race."

He and his Valvoline teammates will practice in two 45-minute sessions on
Saturday then race at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
