Johnny Benson & James Ince Saturday Rain Quotes

#10 Valvoline Pontiac driver Johnny Benson will start second Sunday in the
Subway 300 at the North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina.

Heavy rain cancelled Winston Cup Series practice on Saturday. The 43 cars will start the 1 p.m. race without any race practice.

Johnny Benson:

“I don’t know how much an effect not practicing will have. We have a new race
car, new templates and we aren’t sure how things are gong to be on the track.
We did have an idea weather was coming yesterday, so we did a race run in
practice. Hopefully we have a good idea of what’s going to happen on Sunday. We are going to run the same setups in the past. I expect the track will do the
same it always does and that’s get tight and slick as the race goes on. Tires
are always a story here. The track will be extra tough on tires for the first
run or two then it will get to normal. But, normal here is still tough on tires
though.

Crew Chief James Ince:

“I don’t know what it means. We spent yesterday doing some race practice and the biggest reason we did that is to know how much tape to run on the grill. I feel comfortable not practicing today. Not just because we won here three months ago, but because we understood what our car did yesterday morning. This is a long race and it’s a handling race. The best drivers and best teams are going to run up front at this track. It isn’t an engine deal or a technology deal. It might be a better, closer race because we didn’t get to practice on Saturday.”
