JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE
PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
YOU FINISHED THIRD IN THE BRICKYARD 400 LAST YEAR - YOUR
THOUGHTS HEADING INTO THIS YEAR'S RACE.
"Hopefully the results are the same. Actually, maybe a
couple of spots better would be good. I'm looking forward
it. Jerry (Nadeau) tested the car down there since I was
hurt, and he was pretty quick, so we're excited about that.
We're excited to get back there and do some racing at Indy.
We've run good there in the past and we're hoping we can do
more of the same."
YOU HAVE A PRETTY GOOD RECORD AT INDY - ANYTHING IN
PARTICULAR ABOUT THE TRACK THAT YOU LIKE?
"I think the whole team likes the track. It's a little bit
different and the straightaways are awful long. But it's an
interesting track, it's a flat track, it's a finesse track,
and those tracks I like."
DO YOU THINK THE TRACK WILL PROVIDE ANY UNIQUE CHALLENGES
AS FAR AS YOUR RECENT RIB INJURIES GO?
"I don't know, I haven't been there yet, but I don't think
so. It will be similar to Pocono, and Pocono didn't really
give me any problems, so I don't foresee it being an issue."
ARE YOU HANDICAPPED AT ALL BY NOT BEING ABLE TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE TEAM'S INDY TEST?
"Well, it might hinder me a little, but by the same token,
(crew chief) James (Ince) and the guys were doing the same
or similar stuff that we normally do during the test. Plus I
was there, walking around, so I knew all of the stuff that
they did, so I feel good about that. I think will be in good
shape when we unload there and I look forward to the
weekend."
