Good Morning, JB fans!

Well it’s another gloomy weather day that I have to contend with for a race day. I’ll tell you it does nothing for the hair. There is 60% chance of rain today!

We are staying at a Drury Inn. This is the first time I have stayed at a Drury. I must say that it’s a very nice hotel in Kansas. Free hot breakfast, happy hour and even free soft drinks and popcorn from 3 - 10. They have an exercise room and a pool that you can either be inside or outside. The rate is pretty reasonable too - $80 a night.

Sandi and I are currently waiting for Colleen to arrive … When she booked her ticket, it was for 10:00 pm - not 10:00 am! So she is going stand by to get here in time for the ARCA race today. Note - it’s always good to check out your reservations - I’m the one who caught her error!

I had a good experience flying yesterday. When I got to the gate at Detroit, I noticed a lot of blue shirts hanging around. They said Honda racing. (They must have a strict dress code policy!) As we were boarding I asked one of them what team they worked on. He said they were the engineers for Honda and they were based out of Detroit. He had just gotten back from Japan - so he was struggling with getting adjusted to the time change. All I can say is they hogged the seats in first class so the Dodge guys and I were shoved back to rows 5 and 6! Ha!

Sometimes the people you sit next to, can be quit talkative and it gives you an opportunity to learn more about the types of jobs people have. On the first flight, the gentleman was a furniture designer and lived in Zeeland, MI. One thing I learned from him was about the NWA logo and the triangle that represents the northwest corner of a compass. On the 2nd flight, the gentleman was from Kansas. He works for Permatex and travels weekly for his job. Even trains at the Kent Skills Center in Grand Rapids. Did you know that Johnny went to the Kent Skills Center? I always thought JB went there to get out of being in high school - but I guess he learned a trade there too!

We met our friends from the Win Tron Racing team last night. (The name used to be Country Joe Racing and the team is owned by Kevin Cywinski and Nate Theisse). They do not have a full time driver - just a mixture of development drivers. We went to a Irish Pub restaurant. Some of the television people were they too. I thought I recognized one of them - so I had to go over and ask him if we knew each other. We did! Jim Wilson was one of the camera guys that worked during the ASA days when Johnny was racing and Ralph Sheehan was the commentator. He is currently working for the IRL - he said the NASCAR schedule was just too hectic …. It sure is a small world …

Thanks for the comments on yesterday’s blog! … I will try and do my best to capture a photo of Danica - but I bet her victory photos would be better. As far as getting JB and her together would be quite a feat - since the garages are not even close together . Bobby Rahal and JB picture might be easier - since they are friends … I will also mention to Trip - that we need a new truck for Texas …. But is it really the truck or the unknowns gremlins that cause a mechanical failure????

Well, gotta run and get ready for the day … Long day at the track with the various practices and we are staying for the ARCA race …. Go JB and the #23 team!

PS … Welcome home, Mom! (I know you are reading this!) She flew to Florida on Tuesday in order to drive my Aunt Jackie home and they made it back in record time last night! Who is the real racer in the family??
