Good Morning
from Sunny Atlanta ... Not!
I need to start my blog with a Happy Birthday to my
niece, Katelyn and Happy Anniversary to my mom and dad!
Boy do I wish it was sunny! Currently, I am hibernating
at the hotel. According to the local weather forecast,
the skies are supposed to clear by noon. The bad news is
that another front is supposed to come through early
tonight which I believe is just in time for Cup
qualifying.
My travels started yesterday afternoon. NWA was running
smoothly and I made it without any problems. No NASCAR
coats at GRR, but a couple of the NWA counter staff
recognized me and told me to tell JB good luck.
Once I got to Detroit, I finally saw a gentleman with a
NASCAR coat. I noticed his travel bag and he had several
patches with track names on it. He must be a seasoned
fan.
You need to have a plan of attack when trying to leave
the airport. I took the wrong lane and was heading to
dowtown Atlanta. Got my bearings, turnaround and headed
in the right direction.
Most of the racing teams stay within the perimeter of
the airport. This area is jammed packed with hotels of
various levels. Hampton, Marriott, Red Roof, etc. You
can find the crew members at local eateries including
Ruby Tuesdays, Malones, Joe Grill and Spondivits.
Johnny and Russ spent yesterday afternoon at the
Inaugural Clay Shoot and Barbecue for the Atlanta
Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities Thursday
afternoon. Sounds like they had fun. I know for a fact
that they enjoyed a good deal of sunny skies!
There is nothing worse than raindrops at a race tracks.
Standing around with nothing to do can be so boring. I
hope the forecasters are right and the skies will clear
... Most of all I hope that the next system stalls to
give JB a chance ...
